Avon's "Perfect Wear Makeup Remover" was formulated to remove all of their stay-the-day Perfect Wear products (including foundation and eye stuff). Since my gentle eye makeup remover was not doing a good job removing my waterproof mascara I figured I'd give this a try. After shaking the bottle to mix the two ingredients I poured a bit on a cotton ball and applied to my lashes (the bottle says it is Opthamologist tested, suitable for sensitive eyes & contact lense wearers). Big mistake. Immediately my eyes and the surrounding area began to sting and burn like mad. The traces of makeup were gone but, I fear, so was the first layer of my skin! This type of stinging just can't be good on a daily basis. It also left a bit of an oily film on my eye area that I had to splash away. Belatedly I read the ingredients and noted that it contains Benzyl Alcohol and Fragrance. I'm no chemist but I have an inkling that one of those two ingredients should not go near my sensitive eyes!
