I would give this mascara a "4" for the color I bought it in (Eggplant) because it is hard to find an attractively colored purple mascara. However, if you were planning on buying it in a "normal" color like black or brown I would only give it a "3" because there are much better, much cheaper black and brown mascaras out there (like L'Oreal's Voluminous). "Eggplant" is a great eggplant purple (go figure!) shade that makes my lashes darker and really makes my green hazel eyes stand out. It is a great topper to purple or pink eyeshadow shades as well.
Now for the bad -- this mascara has an extremely strong herbal type of scent that practically makes my eyes water. It also is not the easiest mascara to apply (no two-coats-and-go) but with patient application I can get results as good as my favorite drugstore mascaras. This can start flaking a bit at the end of a long day (after 12 hours or so) but generally wears pretty well. So, the long and the short of it is that this is the best purple mascara I have found but it still isn't the holy grail of mascara by a long shot.
