Clinique has yet to impress me. I'm terribly upset with this toner, it's been the worst toner I've ever used in my life. Well the only good thing about it is that it removes all traces of make-up. Period. But you can't possibly use this to remove traces of eye-makeup due to its high alcohol content that STUNG my skin all over. I partially blame the salesgirl who attended to me. It's possibly the right formulation for my skin type cos I counter checked Clinique's skin type test online before purchasing. I went back to the store feeling irate only to find that they have the non-alcohol version as well. Why didn't the salesgirl tell me in the first place? FYI I failed to get a cash refund either (tho they said I could exchange and pay more for that non-alcohol version. This is a bad sales tactic. First they sell you a product that didn't work then try selling you an alternative, yes they profit that way.
Later, I read it in cosmetic journals that good toners should never contain alcohol/ethanol as these substances dry the skin and can cause inflammatory reactions. The Clarifying lotions all contain a high percentage of alcohol, take a whiff yourself if you don't believe me (except for #2 which comes in the non-alcohol version as well, but in a much larger bottle so you'd have to pay more). Maybe it's designed that way to overdry your skin so the moisturizing benefits of their Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion will be more obvious.
For that kind of money, get something gentler and more effective from brands like Body Shop, L'occitane or even Lush.
