This is Jane's entry into the long-wearing lipstick category. You get a sponge-on color and a clear topcoat. I haven't tried the Covergirl/Max Factor products, but I was unimpressed with this Jane version. Normally, I'm a Jane fan. Quality products at bargain prices. But this product needs to go back to the drawing board. I bought two colors: Non-Stop Lips, and Perpetual Plum-Ping. The problems start right with the color selection. There are very few colors to choose from and none is especially appealing. Non-stop lips is a browny-mauve color that tended to make my mouth look like it was fading into my face, and Perpetual Plum-Ping was pretty in theory, but was too darkly pink and garish to look good on anyone. Although this is a new product, Non-Stop lips was almost dried up and I had a hard time getting any of the color on my lips (although when I got it on I wished I hadn't); the plum went on wet and smooth. I was able to use the plum if I applied it VERY lightly, but although I followed the package directions and waited before adding the top coat, the lipstick still wore off after a couple of hours, and it did come off on glasses and napkins just like any ordinary lipstick.
