I have the classic combination skin problem, and, until I bought this foundation, I've had yet to find ANTHING that kept me absolutely shine free ALL DAY. I'm wearing Adaptive now, at 12AM . . . I applied it at 8AM, and, as I look in the mirror - no shininess - and I haven't touched up all day! This is the most amazing formula - it glides on lightly, yet provides a good medium coverage which lasts all day. I do not think that it is oil free, yet, after a week, I have not experienced any problems. It has an SPF of 10, which, of course, is always helpful! Caveat: this looks perfectly smooth and dewy for the first 5 or 6 hours after you apply it, but after that, it begins to look a little dull and flat and weird without the shine - so - remember to tote your shimmer powder compact along with you! Minor quibble aside, it's still the best foundation I've ever used.
