Easy and elegant aptly describes one of Laura Mercier's latest innovations - Basic Colour. This is a collection of four shades of cream eye shadow that adds color and sheen to eyelids. The shades are in natural tones, which also may serve as an ideal base should there be discoloration or imperfections in the lids.

These shades are easily applied with the sponge tip applicator and dry to a day into evening matte color. They're both water resistant and crease proof - say ta-ta to pleated, crepey eyelids!

My current favorite shade is Basic Chocolate, a rich, deep hazel. They're also available in Basic Peach, Basic Caramel, and Basic Pink (my favorite base).

Hint: For a great no-shadow effect, simply apply just a tiny bit and blend with fingertip. For a more defined appearance, use a light color all over then apply medium color to the lid. - Gail Cooke
