As a recent convert to non-waterproof mascara, I made it my mission to find one that was resistant to tears and wouldn't smear by the end of the day. After several discouraging attempts with low end versions, I took the plunge and splurged on Lancome's Definicils, which does wear wonderfully and build lots of volume and length for me. However, once my tube ran out, I just couldn't bring myself to fork over another $19, so I again ventured into the drugstore brands and tried L'Oreal Lash Out, as I heard many rave about it. I have to say that it wears fantastically--no smudges or runs at all, even after a good cry. And I get great length and volume when I apply carefully (wipe excess off of the wand first). I do get a tiny bit of smearing under my eyes (only wear mascara on top lashes), but this can be controlled if I use my MAC Blot Powder faithfully throughout the day. All in all, well worth it to save the $$ for a more "fun" product, like lipsticks/glosses.
