i have fairly thin, shorter lashes. this mascara was a bit clumpy applied straight from the tube, so i now tissue off excess onto a tissue first for a smooth application. when the excess is tissued off, the mascara goes on smoothly. after a couple coats, my lashes get so much longer and thicker. they are also very feathery/separated and soft!! i definitely recommend it. p.s. this has been makeup artist kevyn aucoin's favorite mascara for years! i definitely recommend it, especially to those with lashes that need plumping up/lengthening
