I bought this eyelash curler a long time ago at the drugstore and wasn't impressed at the time. later on, I purchased the Shiseido curler which is very nice, but it also didn't seem to work on my very straight lashes. A friend recommended that I curl the lashes and don't use mascara, and that worked with the Shiseido. I was about to toss the Maybelline but decided to try it w/o using mascara too. Lo and behold, it is wonderful. My super stick straight lashes stayed curled all day (w/o mascara!) The pads are silicon, too, and just as good as new as when I got it a couple years ago. The difference between this cheap curler and the expensive one ($14) is that the curling pad part is NOT as long for the cheaper one, which is fine for my tiny eyes but if you have large eyes then get the more expensive and longer one.
