i'm pretty generous about mascara reviews so the 4 might be too high. the mascara was not as runny as other ones i have tried. the formulation actually is dry and heavy in consistency. it coats the lashes well and leaves them soft to the touch. best for every day where since it will NOT give you a dramatic evening look. i did notice there was a little clumping, but these can easily be removed with another brush. it is pretty water resistant as well but comes off easily with soap. overall, the performance of this mascara is pretty good for the price and so i gave it a 4. the only thing i had a problem with was the strong and lingering nailpolish like smell. . . . i also experienced some mild stinging after applying this mascara but i have VERY sensitive eyes and I have never heard of anyone else having this problem with it so i did not deduct points from the mascara from it. if you have any eye sensitivites, however, i suggest you try another brand (like Almay Amazing Lash or Clinique Naturally Glossy - hypoallergenic products). btw, this mascara has the exact same formulation ingredient-by-ingredient as Cover Girl Professional Mascara and Max Factor 2000 calorie. The only difference between these three mascaras is the brush, which does make a big difference. The Oil of Olay Mascara uses a long honeycomb shaped brush.
