Oil of Olay Complete Care Lotion
This product gives a velvety and matte finish, and it's
oil free, fragrance free; it contains octyl methoxycinamate(UVB sunscreen),
and zinc oxide(UVA&UVB sunblock), and vitamin E to protect from sun damage.
However it has its downsides. It contains polyacrylamide in the 4th place
in the ingredient list, and polyacrylamide is highly toxic and irritating to
the skin, and it can be absorbed through broken skin. The product also contains
DMDM hydantoin, which is a preservative that may release formaldehyde(dangerous substance), and
can be a skin irritant. These irritants can irritate(well, DUH!)the skin, and can cause
breakouts. The complete ingredient list as follows:
water, isohexadecane(um...I have to look this up), glycerin(water-binding), polyacrylamide(a big No-No thickener),
C13-14 isoparaffin(safe thickener), laureth-7(subsing ability), cyclopentasiloxane(a silicone derivative),
dimethicone copolyol(moisture-sealing silicone), steareth-21(safe surfactant, and emulsifier),
stearyl alcohol(antifoam, lubricant, safe), sucrose polycottonseedate(I suspect this to be an
moisture-binding ingredient), behenyl alcohol(thickener), cetyl alcohol(emollient), DMDM hydantoin(can-be-an-irritant preservative),
iodopropynyl butylcarbamate(preservative, safe at concentration up to 0.1%), tocopheryl acetate(vitamin E),
disodium EDTA(colouring), steareth-2(surfactant, emulsifier, safe), DEA oleth-3 phosphate(preservative, possible skin sensitizer).
My experience with this lotion has been rather pleasant. I luckily don't experience breakout from this
matte suncare lotion. It does not leave a shiny finish, and does not smell like sunscreen! My mom actually thought
it smelled like almond. Well, I guess the mixture of all these chemicals produce this pleasant scent. The
product IS fragrance-free though. Evaluate for yourself if you want to try a potentially irritating, yet
wonderful-feeling suncare lotion. After all, you might be lucky as I am.
