I've been using this for about 2 years now, and using the first refill pad. It curls okay, probably the best among the drugstore brands, but I wish it were a little wider so it could curl the corners of my eyes. I can't curl too close to the base or else it will pull on my eyelashes. But for the first time this week, one of my eyelashes got stuck in it! It's where the top horizontal metal piece meets the vertical piece of the metal on the right stide. ow ow ow ow ow!!! I had to finally get a pair of eyebrow trimmers and cut the lash! My eye was red and irritated for a few hours afterwards. I would have given this a 3 rating before this incident, but now I change my mind. I do not think it got out of alignment as I always kept it in a box where it didn't get jostled around. I am now dying to try the Shu Uemura or Shiseido one but it's sold out everywhere!! Maybe this is a freak accident or something, but it was only mediocre in how it curled to begin with.
