I've experimented with other 'skin illuminators', and with olive skin that tends to get a serious shine halfway through the day, it's been a challenge, but this is one I like. Now it CAN stain your clothes, it does tend to be a bit shiny and glittery, but if you use it carefully, blend it well, and add a light dusting of powder or foundation to take down the shine (like my Mac studiofix compact foundation) or just blot now and then, it does a remarkable job of making your skin look healthy and radiant, without the weight of foundation. For a natural look, it's great. The main reason I recommend it though is because EVERY time I wear it, I get compliments on how great my skin looks!
