I've been busting my butt for a year because I wanted to be on this team more than anything. I absolutly love dance. I've done it pretty much my whole life. The team only took 4 girls.. and two of them are already on the varsity gymnastics team. They aren't dancers, never have been. They tried out because the want the title of saying that their a Pom. So they already have a passion on gymnastics but because they want to raise their status a little bit, they have to take spots away from girls like me who try and have so much dedication to it. I was pretty much just as good as them. I know I was. It just pisses me off more than anything. They didn't spend 6 hours the night before tryouts at a dance studio trying to perfect every last move, to make sure that everything was perfect. They didn't spend 4 nights a week at a dance studio. UGH!!! I'm so upset. I wanted this more than anything, and I had an honest shot at it. But no, this had to be taken away from me too. I'm sorry if I sound like a b1tch right now, but this just really bothers me.

I'm sorry you didn't make the team. I understand the dissapointment and anger you feel. But try to take this as a great experience. I mean you love dance right? You had dance lessons at a studio! In my book, that's a great opportunity.

So, even if you didn't get to make the team, you can use this dance lesson experience that you have to do something else. You could join a local dance team or something of that sort.

Just know that just because you didn't make it on the Poms team doesn't mean that your dance career has to end.

I'm so sorry! But you know what? Would you want to still take dance classes at a studio, even if you're not preparing for a team now? I take 4 classes a week at a studio and love it. I'd almost rather perform less and practice more. That's just me. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

At least your school team sounds awesome. Ours sucks. It's hip-hop, and out of 15 girls, about 3 are actually good. The rest get all confused and muddled up, ugh. I would've joined otherwise. I wish ours was better like yours!

I think I'm actually going to try out for the dance team at my studio! My teacher (a former member and now does the kids team) said that I can do things a lot of the girls on the team have trouble doing. Plus tryous for that are in 3 months, so that give me more time to prepare. It would be a huge commitment, but I would still be able to dance, and it would give me good experience for next year if I made Poms. Plus the Poms coach dances on the team at my studio. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm so sorry.

Sounds like more of a political decision than an ability based one. That always makes it way harder to swallow. That's happened to me at work quite a few times.

I'm glad that you at least will get the opportunity to try out for the dance team. Don't let this get in the way of your passion for dance.

So sorry that you didn't make it, Juli http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I know you worked hard and are dissapointed and angry, but just know it's not the end of the world. Good luck with the tryouts for the dance team at your studio!

Same junk happened at my HS...and I graduated 10 years ago. I was an avid Cheerleader in Jr. High etc. in HS, most girls like me got dumped for the gymnastics girls who could be easilly tossed up or do flips. Things never change!

Yea the team gets a lot of exposure. Like they dance at halftime for the Denver Nuggets, Broncos, CU Buffs, and they travel to LA once a year. I'm gonna work really hard over the summer which will be a lot easier without school. I decided I want to do this team.
