Okay, I'm officially panicking. I know that people gain a lot of weight sometimes during pregnancy, but 60 lbs is ridiculous. I weigh normally around 125-130 and I am now 190. I don't look like I weigh that much at all, but I'm afraid when I finally have my baby that I'm just going to be this huge mess. I had a decent body before this and I'm afraid I'm just going to be a big flabby grossness when I'm done. Maybe I'm just being hormonal but I've had 8 months of feeling fat and I'm just worried that it's not going to end when this is all over with. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
*Sigh*
I'm sure every mother felt this way at some point of their pregnancy. I think maybe I just need to get over these hormones. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

My mom gained 60lbs while pregnant with me also, and she was back into her size 8 jeans within a few months. A lot of her weight gain with me was due to the fact that I was huge (I weighed 11.5 lbs at birth) and the placenta was huuuuge. Could it be possible that you are going to have a big baby as well? I would try not to worry about it, I bet a lot of the weight will come off as soon as the baby is born

Dang, Melissa - you were a HUGE baby!! ::drops jaw::
I'm not sure how much my mom gained with me - not much that's for sure because I was 2 lbs 12 1/2 ounces when I was born at 7 months. My brother was born at 8 1/2 months though, and he weighed over 8 lbs. I know they told my mom she would lose like 20 lbs. right away after my brother was delivered, and she lost the rest of the weight really quickly. Hopefully it will be the same for you!! I have heard that your body just isn't the same after having kids - like it's not a bad thing, just not the same. It'll be all worth it though when you have that precious baby in your arms - just look at it that way!! http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Damn Melissa, you were a huge baby.LOL.
Fortunately, they only put my little man at about 5 1/2 lbs right now. I called the doctor back to talk to her about why she thinks I have gained so much weight, and she said that it's all in my belly and the swelling. My edema is so bad in my feet and ankles right now that my doctor said the water weight was contributing to a huge part of my weight gain. So I'm hopeful that it won't take too long to get rid of it all. I appreciate the words of encouragement.
Does anyone know when it's okay to start going back to the gym after pregnancy?

I gained 70 pounds while pregnant. It was the chinese food I 2was craving and all the water I drank to top it off cause it was summer. Try to cut back on your sodium and eating. I wish someone had told me to stop eating for two earlier.

Hey, Andrea http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ... I gained 60 lbs with MY first baby, too, and while it didn't go away overnight (can you believe I jumped on a scale in the hospital after giving birth? http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Desperate ...), it DID go away eventually.
I know how hard it is, feeling as big as you do at the moment (same boat LOL), but as Erica pointed out, all of that is just going to seem so non-existent once you hold your baby in your arms http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.
You're not going to be a "huge mess" as you put it -- you're going to be just fine http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. Just hang in there a little longer, and things will happen as they should. As long as you FEEL good and healthy, it's all good http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.
And Melissa? http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Skeered a'you! Your mom got a trophy, right? http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Kate Hudson gained 60 lbs when she was pregnant. Look at her now!
It sounds like a lot of your weight is just water weight from the swelling. I'm sure you'll look great soon after the baby is born.
You should probably ask your doctor when it will be safe for you to go back to the gym. I don't think you should try to go back too soon.

Aww try not to fret.
My best friend gained a lot of weight with each of her three kids, 40-50 lbs with each one, but she always managed to take it all off (accept maybe 10 lb) between each one within a few months. She had her last one about 5 months ago and is getting back down close to her pre-pregnancy size again.
She also told me that a few days after giving birth she lost A LOT of lbs just from having the baby..placenta gone obviously..and all the water weight/swelling going away.
I know they say you're only supposed to gain 20-25 lbs during pregnancy but every pregnant woman I have ever talked to is like "Yeah, that's a huge joke" http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Don't panic !!!
I became preg for the first time in '99, gave birth in 1/2000. That alone, I went from 115/120 to 175. After becoming preg again when my boy was about 3 or 4 months old, I gained alllll that weight again plus what I hadn't lost already. At my highest, before delivery, I was close to 200 pounds.
But, with just daily living and nursing it came off somewhat easy. I found the last 15 pounds hardest to lose but even with that, I got it off in about 8 weeks.
Don't get too worked up. It comes off
I had my baby on June 8th. I gained 60 lbs. also. I know alot of it was water weight because my feet got HUGE!!!!!!!! finding flip flops to wear to prom was even a challgenge. I gained 7 lbs. the day I had my baby, and lost only 15 in the hospital. I was disappointed. I didn't breastfeed, and still lost about a pound a day after that. Now 4 months later, I've lost 50 of it and I'm down to a size 3 and my body looks better, it has more shape to it. SO don't worry, it will come off. How far along are you?

When my mom had my little bro (who weighed in at 12 lbs 4 oz.) she had gained about 70 lbs and it came off fast. I was smaller, but there was weight gain with that too. She always tells me that breastfeeding really made the pounds melt away fast. I believe you can depend on using up at least 600 calories per day in the way of breastfeeding.
I really bet a lot of the weight you're feeling right now is water exacerbated by hormones. Don't worry! I'm sure you're going to look great http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif And just as a side note, I really think that that whole "correct weight gain" of like 25 lbs is a load of malarkey...that couldn't be the same for everyone anyhow. Not eating enough and shortchanging your kid would be the really bad choice.
