Maybe my hormones are kicking in since my period is coming up. But, dang, I am craving salt lately.

As of this moment, 8:15 AM I'm eating grilled cheese with tomato soup. My comfort food. I like to make the Campell's Tomato soup with milk instead of water. It's more filling and the calcium is good for me. I used whole wheat bread for my grilled cheese. I cut it in 4 parts and dipped it in the soup.
I was laying in my bed at 5am and thought "I need to eat that-now"

The other day I had Ramen noodles in creamy chicken. Those give me a great salt fix. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif I'm still craving tomatoes. I'm going to Trader Joe's today to get some of that tabbouli. It's like a wonderful dip filled with herbs and chopped tomatoes.

Anyways, what everyone elses' comfort foods?

Like you, I keep to pretty healthy eating habits most of the time. Lots of fish and lean protein, wheat products, veggies & fruits not to mention tons of water. However, once in a while I love to pull out junk food. I figure it wont kill me once in a while. I loove -

*Ramen Noodles - the shrimp & chicken kind. There's an asian brand I love alot Ichiban I think it is? Tons of salt, but I only eat about half the package and dont drink the soup.

*Cambells Chicken Noodle Soup and Chunky Chicken Noodle Soups - nothing better than this on a cold day. Hmm.

*Grilled Cheese sandwiches - been a favorite since I was a kid. Except now I make them with wheat bread and "real" cheese (when I was younger, it was always the little plastic wrapped Kraft slices http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif).

*Ice Cream - this is the biggest comfort food for me. I love Blue Bell Cookies & Cream and Coffee. For Chocolate & Vanilla, I like Breyers. I also grab a few pints of Ben & Jerry's sometimes http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

*Bagel Bites - weird, and totally disgusting to most, but when I'm in the mood I can just devour these. Last week, my roomate and I finished off a 40 pack in half a week. We were both menstrual, scary huh?

*Macaroni & Cheese - the kraft kind, out of the box...with the funny almost flourescent colored powder cheese. Real Mac & Cheese is pretty awesome, but there's just something about this kind that takes me back http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

My asian comfort food is Pho. I love any kind..chicken, beef, seafood. Was always my favorite food growing up, and can still almost always make me feel better.

Vietnamese (beef) Pho - I love this too

Pasta

Chicken/Beef pot pie

Soup

Rice and steak w/ a chinese tomato sauce/side dish

Junk food - I don't usually eat it but right before TTOM, I tend to go out and buy a drink, a bag of chips and a chocolate bar.

True "comfort foods" for me:
Potatoes prepared almost any way.
Velveeta Shells & Cheese and cornbread.

Other faves that when I crave them nothing else will do:
Little Debbie's Snack Cakes for a sugar & chocolate fix.
French fries or tater chips for salt cravings (most especially vinegar & salt chips with a real Coke).

Not really a comfort food, but I love to drink hot tea, especially green tea. It really relaxes me.

My comfort food of choice will depend on whether I am craving sweet or salt.

Sweet comfort food: chocolate. Not any kind of chocolate either, it's either Lindt dark chocolate with 85% cocoa or Michel Cluizel (sp?) dark chocolate with 85% cocoa. The Michel Cluizel is better but it is harder to find.

Salt: a turkey, tomato, avocado and cheese jaffle. We bake bread here so it is usually on rye or wholemeal bread.

What is a jaffle? It sounds like a sandwich from what you say is in it. But it also look like a waffle with a j.

Jaffle is an Aussie term for a toasted sandwich. We have "jaffle makers" which basically look like this:

Jaffle Maker (http://www.buyquick.com.au/shop/Product.asp?ID=BR-SG2300&parentid=263&rootid=&brandid=)

It is basically a toasted sandwich, about the only difference between a sandwich press and a jaffle maker is that the Jaffle maker really squeezes together the two pieces of bread so you get a seal around the edge of your sandwich.

So a jaffle is basically a toasted sandwich with sealed edges. The cheese still escapes out from your sammich anyways LOL

Toasted sammiches, yum... I would go make one now save for the fact that it is only an hour away from dinner time.

Guess who is having a jaffle for lunch tomorrow?

ck_nd, I have one of those too. It is called a SnackMaster. You're right, they are very good especially with lots of butter on the the outside.

Before I clicked on the link, I thought you meant something like a panini press.

This must be my number one comfort food:
COOKIE DOUGH.

I mean, God bless cookie dough, really.

It's so when I was 6, 7 years old, my mom baking some cake and me and my brother eating the rests of the dough out of the pink bowl.
Gosh, memories.
