I couldn't find Loreal Preference's Dark Ash Brown http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif and Loreal Espresso looked too light. I looked around in the haircolor aisle forever and decided on Garnier's Sweet Cola. The color on the box looks like the perfect dark choclate brown, but its description is soft black. I'm afraid that it will be too dark. I'm wondering if maybe I could mix it with a lighter brown haircolor. Has anyone ever done this? Can you do this? TIA! http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Remember that the haircolor on the box is ALWAYS lighter than how it turns out. I'd say go for the lighter one, and most likely it will turn out fine.
I dyed my hair a supposed medium blonde, and it still looks the color of honey on me after a month.

Thanks cutie123! I just read a bunch of reviews on MUA saying that Garnier's shades come out darker, so I think I'll probably just try to find a lighter shade. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
BTW- I looked at your pics and your haircolor is so pretty! http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think I read on a hair color ad that you could mix different hair colors to get a different color. I'd try calling the support line on the back of the box before deciding to mix the colors. You don't want to end up mixing chemicals that react badly together.

You can only mix shades of the same brand. Do not mix Clairol with Loreal, etc.

hair colour never comes out lighter on me. but I do have naturally black hair so it can't be dyed over easily. as for mixing hair colours, I've done it with no problemo. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As others have said, you can mix colors from the same color line. Garnier's 800 # might be able to help you. One word of warning, I used the next shade lighter than Sweet Cola (Chocolate or something, the Dark Brown color). I got a TON of red from that color, so be sure to do a strand test if you're trying to avoid red.
