Hmm the last time I had a hair cut that didn't involve me trimming off a few inches myself...
Like 2 years ago? That's damn sad.
I don't know why I don't go to the salon very often...probably b/c it end up disappointed 99% of the time when I walk out.
I trimmed an inch of earlier today just b/c the ends were looking really bad. My last final is tonight, I might go sometime this week and get it cut or something cuz I can't take it anymore.
I have no idea what kind of cut to get. My hair is at the middle of my back. It's blunt, just straight across..hangs there. I have no bangs. I started growing them out about 3 years ago and they are finally pretty much the same length as the rest of my hair. My hair is really fine. I used to have decently thick hair, but years of torturing it with all kinds of crap took that away from me.
I still haven't learned to do much with fine hair. It's so much harder to make it look good.
And then I have a wierd face shape on top of it all. I have a longer face but instead of being oval...my chin and jaw has to get in the way. It's not square but there's an angle there that I hate (Thanks for the jaw and chin, Dad!)
Obviously having my hair straight and blunt accentuates this facial shape even more in a not so good way.
Right now this is the only hair cut I have seen in ages that I have a "crush" on http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b5da28b3127cce91444d448f7d00000016108Iatm7Fo4aA
Anybody know what kind of cut that is or what they possibly did to it? Heck I'd take the time to curl my hair everyday if I could get something like that.
I *think* her face shape looks similar to mine has well.
What do you girls think...I've spilled my hair's soul any advice for what I could do with it?

Could it possibly be a blunt (or even slightly layered to take out bulkiness) cut that hits right below the collarbone? It doesn't seem that complicated to me, but it's hard to tell because of the curls.
I know it sucks to be so frustrated with your hair - I'm currently growing mine out, and I'm frustrated because I feel like I can't do anything with it, yet I don't want to cut it all off yet. ::sigh::

I wish somebody needed to take out some bulkiness in my hair lol
I can't really tell either. I'm thinking of just printing it off and taking it to a stylist..I don't like doing that lol..but I don't think I could describe it well enough for them to understand.
I do like the cut though, but if it would look good on me or not is another story. My hair is one thing I totally hate, so frusturating.
I'm thinking of hunting around for some good salons tomorrow..I need a change badly.

I think printing it off and taking it to a stylist is the best idea - I've found that when trying to just describe the look I want, I never come out with that look. At least I stand a better chance with a picture because they can't say they didn't know what I wanted!
Can't say for sure or not if it'd look good on you, as I don't think I've ever seen your picture. I do understand your hair frustration though, as I go through phases of hating mine. Sometimes it'll look good for the longest time, and then all of a sudden, it's crappy again, and I didn't do a thing different. The worst part around here is the humidity because of my wavy hair. I'll be frizz city whether I wear my hair straight or wavy. Bleh.
Change is always good! I think you should go for it! I'm very experimental with my hair though - I figure, it's hair, it'll grow back and cut it or dye it any way I want. I've had enough bad haircuts to know that nothing's forever, LOL! Anyways... let me know what you do (and a pic would be nice!)!
Good luck!

Hey Rachel http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ... the only bit of advice I can suggest to you, coming from one who has very fine hair herself, is to find a salon that you feel comfortable with, and be sure to talk to the owner/manager to find out who their best stylist is, and who is most expert as working with fine hair.
Looking at that pic, I'd have to say that I don't think it would be easy to pull off if your hair is straight and fine (a perm of some sort might need to be involved here, and hello, you're getting married in 2 months ... NOT the time for perms LOL). Maybe a simple blunt cut with sideswept bangs that would accentuate the straightness of it?
I'm experimental, too, like Erica, so I always look at hair as a "well, I TRIED it" sort of deal, banking on the fact that it WILL return LOL.
I know -- not much help here, but definitely look for a specialist with fine hair. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Wow, your story sounds all too familiar.
I was in the same boat as you. I have fine straight hair too and I got really frustrated with it one time so I went to the salon and the stylist recommended really long layers since my hair was fine and she added some thin accent highlights. It made a world of difference. Hightlights on straight hair always looks great because it gives it some "Omph!" Just don't get blonde hightlights if your hair is dark. I'd go with a two shades lighter than your hair.

I didn't get a chance to go scouting salons today..too busy..bah!
I've done the long layers thing in the past...it does look nice on me..but since it is a been there done that kind of thing I don't feel like it is going to fulfill my need for a true change.
I had a really great haircut (from the last time I did go to a salon lol) and I had to take a picture in and the woman in the picture had really thick looking full hair and the stylist didn't do the exact same look but she changed it to suit my hair type and face shape and it was awesome.
Heck she was awesome..really great stylist. I would go back to her...if she wasn't in flippin Wisconsin lol
I guess that's the thing. If you show them pictures they sometimes give you exactly that even if it doesn't go with you. They figure, that's what she wants, okay I'll give it to her. Met a lot of stylists like that!
My hair has quite a bit of natural wave in it when I don't blow dry it and do a little scrunching with some spray gel. I love it like that but it's more work to do that than actually blow drying it. I would love it if there was a perm that could make my hair always look like it does when it is naturally wavey. I wonder if there is any really loose wave type perms like that?
My last experiments with perms was in 5th grade and I looked like a freakin poodle so they sourta scare me now lol
I would really like to get a nice color job done in the future professionally but right now it's out of the budget...I'm pretty happy with my Ultress hair color for now though.
I'm in desperate need of a change though..and it's summer now and I won't hafta show up to school in it if I totally mess it up lol

Also wanted to add that a good stylist will be able to look at the picture, tell you if it'll work for you or not and/or what will happen if you do get it cut like that.
As for the cut, it looks like it's a blunt cut that was curled with the deep side part. It looks layered cause of the part pulling a lot of hair to the other side of the head. But if you look at the ends, none of them look shorter than the others.
Perhaps a body wave might help with your hair. I don't think it creates waves or curls per se, but it does plump up the hair shaft to make the hair fuller. Also, I guess perms have come a long way in the past few years. Like others have mentioned, if I saw a pic of you, I could probably rec a style.

I have fine hair and have dabbled in perms...the last one was about 3 to 4 years ago. BIG mistake. I ended up blowing my hair out evey day until it grew out. A perm "takes" different for everyone. Because my hair was fine, it's didn't "take' to well..and it ended up frizzy and dissapointing. Just like every other time I tried it. I could never get the beautiful curls I was after, and finally accepted that. I want to plead with you...no perms before you wedding....pleeeeeze! Just in case it doesn't turn out how you're picturing it. Afterwards...go for it and see if it works for you. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You must add some volume to your hair. Try cutting your hair just at the shoulders and sleeping with large velcro rollers at night. In the morning style your large curls and spray it with mouse. The loose curls make a sexy and romantic hairstyle for any girl and it helps to flatter large faces.
There are also lots of pictures of different hairstyles from romantic to casual on beautyriot.com Check them out and you might find something you like. You could also try on hairstyles on the free virtual makeover. Good Luck!

I like the hair style you chose-it's classic!
It is easy to obtain hair like that with curls and hair spray.
Here is a link to an article on beautyriot.com that includes instructions to obtain "big hair"-includes curls and big curls, http://www.beautyriot.com/article.php?id=2839&c_id=55
Good Luck!

Allycat, can you PLEASE stop replying to threads that are really old? Many members have asked you to stop. You only recommend the same web site in every thread too, it's very suspicious.
