View Full Version : Anyone try Loreal Highligh Styliste yet? UPDATE!

I'm considering highlighting my hair again. A friend just did hers and it made me catch the bug again (and I swore I wouldn't highlight for awhile - oh well). I'm trying to decide between this new Loreal Highlight Styliste or just go back to Frost & Glow or Loreal Cremelights. My hair is now colored a medium brown w/some red in it (my hair ALWAYS grabs red) and I'd like to end up w/dark blond highlights. The reason Styliste appealed to me is because it says on the package that the highlights resist turning brassy which has been a problem for me in the past. Any input?
UPDATE: Ok, I did the highlights. Pretty easy to use although it was a bit thick and harder to brush on. The color came out really nice and the highlights look very good, however I did a few more than I wanted and I think I will end up lowlighting a bit. I thought I did good and only did about 5 highlights per side and made them as thin as possible but it still looks a bit blonder overall than I wanted. But lowlights should fix that and the blond color of the highlights is very nice. I used the Toasted Almond color which worked well over my already colored hair (Feria Bronzed Brown). No redness apparent yet and no brassiness either so far. I wouldn't necessarily say these highlights are better than others I've used though, about the same overall.

I haven't tried this out myself, and would love to hear from someone who actually used it. There were only 2 reviews on MUA, but it sounds promising--like they may not turn out red or orange.
My sister uses L'Oreal Cremelights and gets really great, natural results. However, her hair is a lighter brown and I've never used it on my dark brown hair.

Dern... gonna have to get a box of this, LOL!! Pamie, how hard is it to do highlights at home? I don't really want them all over, just a few on the top layer of my hair.

Hey Erica! It isn't to hard to use but I would recommend a friend helping you. That way you can get the highlights more even and get the back better! Hubby does mine for me http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks so much for your input guys. I think I'm gonna go ahead and buy the kit tonight. I might not get to actually do it for a couple of days but I'll post re: my results - good or bad. I'm undecided whether to get the light-med brown or med-dark brown. I'll guess I'll decide when I see the kits again. I'm probably just going to do a few strands this time - keep it subtle and add more later if I want more.
