but no worries...I got it under control!

My friend was trying to do highlights for herself and she wanted to do mine too. I stupidly agreed to it and it ended up badly...very badly. She used Loreal Highlight Styliste in Toasted Almond. It was kind of hard to use and she forgot to alternate from side to side. So the result? Bright orange splotchy streaks that were lighter on one side of my head than the other. It was awful! The only good thing about it was the conditioner. It smelled pretty and made my hair really soft.
So I used colorfix and stripped every bit of color I had in it until my hair was even again, then I colored w/ Revlon's Colorsilk haircolor in Medium Ash Brown. I have to say that this is the most gorgeous chocolate brown. I thought my last hair dye was good, but this one is great! My hair is exactly how I always wanted it to be and I am not going to screw w/ it this time!

I'm so sorry your hair got screwed up!! I'm glad to hear the Colorfix worked for you, though.

Your new haircolor sound gorgeous! I'm glad you were able to fix this all on your own. I'd love to see pix if you get the chance http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif!!

The exact same thing happened to me with the Styliste kit. It was horrific. I had orange AND yellow highlights. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif However, I just colored all of my hair with Feria Chocolate Cherry and everything was okay. I have a bit of auburn highlights where the orange and yellow ones were.

Glad things turned out okay, My!! I haven't had any bad dyejobs yet, but I was thinking about using an at home highlighting kit and now I'm scared, LOL...

You girls give me heart attacks with these stories! Never EVER EVER use those kits!! Whatever moron decided it was a good idea to give women a highlighting kit where you just comb the bleach onto the hair should be shot. I have fixed so many of these it makes me sick. Those kits have every ingredient in them for a splotchy, blotchy, horrific dye job, and poor women and girls buy them and have no idea. GRRR!!! It makes me angry. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Okay, so my little angry demon retreated and I just want to say that I am very happy that it didn't turn out horrible in the end and that you are happy with the color. Make sure that you now do a weekly deep conditioning treatment on you hair because any stripping of color can make your hair very prone to breakage. And again, I am very glad that everything turned out so positive. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
