hand problem

Does anyone know what this could be? About 3 wks ago, I noticed a red ring that was purple inside and a lump underneath between my finger and thumb on the top side. It didn't hurt or itch. I thought maybe it was a bug bite. It got scaley some days later. I called the derm and he said come in. He said the skin was just eczema and to see a hand surgeon. He had his partner look at it too. Asked if I had been writing a lot. I said no.

The red and purple went away but the lump is still there. Two days ago it started hurting on the underside esp when I use my hand. My neighbor said her coworker had this and it hurt up her wrist. Anyone ever hear of this?

I've not heard of such a thing, but I'd highly recommend seeing your primary physician and getting his/her input on what it might be, as well as a rec for a specialist, if need be.

could it be ringworm??

I thought of ringworm but the skin part cleared up. Now the lump is there. I see dr on Friday.
