Could I have come across somebody who topped the diaper changing at the resteraunt table? Perhaps.
While at the mall today there was a lady in at Trade Secret who was on her cell phone talking abnormally loud the entire time. I had the unfortuante luck of hearing one part of her convesation that I didn't want to know.
She told whoever she was talking to that she "had to make one last stop at Victoria Secret to return some underwear that she had WORN b/c they didn't fit right"
People actually return worn underwear? http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif My god I hope she washed them before the poor girl at VS had to take them out of the bag. Gross, gross, gross.

They had a special on this exact topic on the local news and the radio not too long ago.
Apparently, not only do they take them back, they resell them!
They did an undercover investigation where they return the "marked" panties without tags and specifically told the cashier that they were worn . The cashier didn't give them any problems returning them. The next day, the undercover people returned to the store and found the SAME pantied retagged and set out to be sold!!!!
The next morning, they were talking about it on the radio and a few people who worked for VS called in and confirmed that they do this. They don't throw out anything that is in "sellable" condition. That's supposedly common practice at VS.
Gross is an understatement.

I was JUST listening to the radio and they were talking about how this woman got scavies or something from trying on their sample bras because they don't wash them.
Sanitation, please!

Please make sure to wash all your clothing items from the store before you actually wear them!!! especially undergarments.... i worked at macy's before and even though i didn't work at the undergarments section, clothes were thrown on the floor of the dressing room and stepped on all over and dust was all over them and we just had to hang them back up on the hanger and put it back...seriously it was really gross....i remember once in the dressing room we found a big wet spot in the carpet and i think this lady let her child go #1 there maybe not intentionally...but anyways you never know where how dirty the floor was when your clothes was on it...

That is disgusting. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif We don't have VS stores in Canada and I would never order from them after hearing this.

I know here, La Senza wouldn't even consider taking back used underwear. That makes me happy! http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Gosh, that is so gross! It definitely tops the diaper changer story, Rachel. ICK! I own a lot of VS underwear, as they're my faves; however, I always, ALWAYS wash them before I wear them. I guess it's just habit because even as a kid when I'd get Hanes in the plastic packaging, my mom would wash those too before I could wear them. So now, especially since these can be touched by other people before I buy them, I always wash my new underwear before wearing. Not doing so would just be gross.

Now that you mention that I think I heard about that Stacee. Yeah...always a good thing to wash stuff after buying..you never know where it has been.
Seriously though..I could never imagine returning underwear period. I don't care if I paid 20 bucks for a pair and they didn't fit or something. I still wouldn't do it.
Most stores don't allow returns on swimwear..why on earth do they allow returns on undergarments..just ick to me.

Eeeww. I remember at one point buying some undies from VS, then getting home to realize I'd picked up the wrong sizes. I went back to the mall right then and they exchanged them w/o a problem. Even though I was glad they weren't going to hassle me and I knew it was an honest mistake and of course had not worn them, it still skeeved me out a little to know how easily they take back underwear.
Stuff from VS always gets washed immediately when I buy it. There's just something about watching everyone paw through the panty tables that makes you want to use extra soap...

Having worked in retail, I completely agree with washing everything before you put it on. I picked up so many clothes from the floor and from dressing rooms at work.
I think return policies really depend on the company. Where I worked, if the receipt was there with the exchange, and it was within a certain timeframe, I had to take it back. I did not have to deal with underwear (thank goodness), but I did take back a lot of clothes that were not in new condition. In those cases, I marked them out of the system and threw them away.
It was amazing what customers bought back though at times. I'm with Mz Lala though, I would never even consider returning underwear.
