After the latest hair cut disaster http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif, I thought we could make a list of bad salons to warn others about and save them from meeting the same fate we did.

Lol, I don't want to give names but a Dominican Salon near Camden, really f*&( up my hair bad. A particular stylist turned my eyebrows and hair orange/yellow, ala' macorni n'cheese.
Aldera, I hope your haircut gets better for you, try to play around with it.

I don't think I should put the name, but an Aveda concept salon in my hometown does good work, but also has magically rising prices for the same procedures...like by hundreds of dollars http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Also refused once to tell me how much my process would cost, even though she'd done my hair a million times before and knew how much dye she'd have to use.

Sorry about your hair! I've had some bad experiences lately at salons...it makes me wish I knew how to cut my own hair, seriously. Is it me, or do a lot of hairstylists get disappointed if you ask for something simple like *just* a trim or face-framing layers?

The last haircut I had was at an Aveda concept salon in Elk Grove, CA. The stylist was nice but she cut off about 2.5 inches more than what I said and she also cut my bangs the way she wanted w/o asking. I also had her dye my hair black but it turned out a really dark brown instead (at the time I wanted my hair a blue-black shade). I should have complained about it right then but I didn't want to make a big deal about it. My total was $130! When I got home I was so upset my mom called the salon and the receptionist said the salon owner would give us a call the next day and she never did. So I've learned my lesson, I will never go there again and next time I'm not a satisfied customer I will definitly say something.
Right now I need a bang trim but I'm so iffy about hair stylists now, but I don't want to do it myself incase I mess up.

I once had a stylist tell my mother that she had to watch out for me cause I had a hickey. She didnt do a bad job on my hair or anything but I felt like she should mind her own business. Needless to say I never used her again. She closed down about a year ago.

OMG! That is so rude, however it sounds like the woman who "fried" my hair. She would always talk about customers, lol so I was careful what I said to her. When I think about it now, she was kinda rude. Urg, especially when I came back to her just to get a wash, and she laughing when I told her I didnt' like the haircolor. Wtf was so funny about that?

Master Cuts...uggh. I think they're mostly a mall chain.
Right after I moved up to Wisconsin I got my hair cut there. It was the first time I got my hair cut w/o getting a shampoo or anything first..that was new to me. I realize it's becoming the norm in some places though. Still though, she could have at least asked if I was willing to pay more for a shampoo before! B/c I would have been. That is one of the most relaxing experiences about a hair cut IMO.
Anyways...she sprayed me down with a water bottle and I told her what I wanted and she was like oh no, I don't think you should do that. Up until that point I was still like okay I'll respect your opinion as a stylist but then she goes on to do her own thing w/o my input!
I was getting pissed needless to stay so then she finishes whatever she is doing and is like okay done! and takes the plastic thing offa me. My hair is flippin soaking wet and she doesn't even offer to dry it or show me ways to style it or nothing. At that point I was like whatever I want to get the hell outta here so I go up to pay and she's standing there like she is expecting a tip or something.
It was just a nightmare... I don't know if it was the whole salon or just the stylist but it sucked.

Good idea. I am so paranoid right now that I decided to go back to my hairdresser though the reason I wanted a change was that I wanted someplace closer to home to go to. But instead I would rather be safe.
Does anyone have an opinion on Regis Salons? I got a price list from them but they werent as lower priced as I thought.

I got my hair permed once at a Regis salon and it was beautiful for about a day or 2 and then the curls fell out. I had to go back and do it again. As far as cuts go I do not know because I only went that one time to get a perm, and yes I think they're a little pricey.

About 9 years ago I went to a salon to have my hair colored. The stylist said that I needed to have my hair color corrected because my hair had different tones in it from dying my hair at home. She said they would bleach the color out of my hair and place the new color on top. The cost would be $50.00 plus tax which sounded reasonable. I said that I wanted my hair back to a medium-dark brown, which is my natural color. She left and came back and said her manager said that I should dye my hair a reddish brown. I said no, my natural color is medium-dark brown and tht is what I would like. It seemed weird that she had to ask the manager what color. This woman had been working at the salon for a long time. She did the process and it didn't turn out the first time. I thought mistakes happen and she redid it. As she did it the second time, I quoted the price again. She said "Well actually since it didn't turn out the first time, we have to charge you another $60.00 for the chemicals. My manager said that basically you screwed up your hair at home and were fixing it for you." I understand if they had to charge a little extra but $60.00 was alot. I said that she should have told me this at the beginning and I could have decided if I wanted to go through with it. Needless to say I was ticked off and never went back there again.

I had this terrible terrible haircut by this psychotic hairdresser about four years ago. It was so so bad. She used to work at Oxford's (those in Winnipeg will know the salon) but seems to have opened her own salon. I pity those that go to her. She basically told me that I had crazy hair, chopped it to shreds, and them tried to glue in all in place with hairspray and gel. When I left the salon my longest layer was about four inches long. It looked like a small animal had chewed the ends. I went there with shoulder length hair and asked for a bit of movement to be cut in. She totally chopped it all off and layered the heck out of it. It took six months for it to grow in enough so that some of the layers could be evened out. That haircut took about three years to grow out properly. When I find out the name of her salon, I'll post it. I wouldn't ever go back to that woman if someone paid me.

Another horror story....
About 6 years ago my friend went to Sets salon in downtown Winnipeg and had her hair cut and the stylist did an excellent job. I decided to book an appointment for a color, highlights and cut. I was his last appointment since he was taking off to NYC for the weekend. The color was good, but he used a razor (not electric) to cut my hair. He did it really fast. After applying gel or mousse, hairspray my hair looked okay. Once I left and went home I realized my hair was really razored with the shortest layer just above my ear. The next day I washed it and my hair ends looked split. I went into the salon with shoulder length hair and left with a ugly haircut. It took at least a year for my hair to grow into a nicer style. Apparently he has won awards for his work. http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif I would never go back to him again.
