Lets make a list of skincare products that are terrible break the skin out and irritate. Lord knows it would help me and others save our money. Heres what I suggest.
Noxema skincream(I used this in my teen years and believe it or not my skin was clear as can be but now it BURNS me like crazy).
Ten O Six(may as well put pure alcohol on your skin).
If I can think of any more I will post them later.

Clearasil (pads or cream) - that stuff is awful for your skin. Ditto for Oxy.
those horrible fragranced eye creams at the department store - god save us!
Sea Breeze - for similar reasons the previous poster mentioned about Ten O Six

and SO MUCH more! but lets see what else is posted http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Zapzyt's gel/serum stuff..I forget the actual name of the stuff but it was good going for like the 1st week with that stuff..and then out of nowhere it started burning my skin. One night I couldn't even sleep from the pain even though I had washed it off. Horrible horrible stuff!

Pond's Dramatic Results Moisture...burned the holy hell outta my skin

Jojoba Oil as a facial moisturizer (nobody beat me for this one..just my personal opinion http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ) Okay, I laughed when I saw the big thing going on on MUA a year or so ago about using this as a moisturizer. But then I read something about massaging it in and washing it off to help loosen up clogged pores. Big mistake for me and I realized why I laughed at it in the first place...bumpy oily skin for a couple days after doing that.

Christian Dior Hydra Move cream..dunno if they still make this, I tried it a couple years ago and I am still emotionally scarred from it lol. Let's put it this way..I put it on right before work..went to work..came home and got a chance to look in the mirror...zits and blackheads had popped up outta nowhere. It was really wierd but I've never had zits & blackheads just appear after 6 or 7 hours.

Nivea All Around Protection moisture..felt like putting acid on my face

I think those are my most hated lol

Yup! I got a sample pot of this and put in on one night and besides being horribly perfumed it totally messed up my skin. I'm not even oily!

For me personally, cetaphil is not a good choice. I never really feel clean, and even using it several times to remove makeup and following up with toner, I notice more clogged pores.

For me, St Ives apricot scrub broke me out, and so did noxzema. I love my clean & clear and will prolly never leave it

My list is pretty much the same as people mentioned:
Apricot scrubs
Bonne Bell 10-0-6 (ouch!)
Noxzema (I used so many jars of this when I was 14)
Clearasil
Sea Breeze
Pond's Cold Cream (made me so greasy, and the smell, ugh. I think it was all the mineral oil in this product)
and probably the worst ever:
MUDD original mask. This made my skin feel like it was on fire, and I had to wash it off instantly.(If you have any sort of sensitive skin, stay far away) I absolutely detest this stuff.

~ Carley's (the coconut oil in it gave me terrible cysts) http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
~ Murad's Acne Kit (burns badly!)
~ Haircare products (shampoos specifically) that contain SLaurylS
~ Anything that contains fragrance!

I have sensitive skin and any type of chemical sunscreen burns the living hell out of my face. I can only tolerate physical sunscreens made w/ zinc oxide. Walgreens makes a good/cheap zinc one.

I honeslty did not like Philosophy's skin care line particularly their eye creams http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif But I sure do love Biotherm! http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yep. I'm sure that everyone is sick of hearing how much I hated Cetaphil, but I'll use this as yet another opportunity to say that this stuff is definitely not for everyone. It made my skin feel like a baby's patootie for the first few days (loved that!), but I then experienced a breakout that took me months (I exaggerate not) to recover from.

Yikes, yikes, yikes.

Also: I have yet to try a Neutrogena skincare product that has not made my skin bitterly and angrily revolt. Their stuff is simply too harsh for my skin. Which is a shame, because they have an excellent marketing department, and up until the last skin freakage, I continued to be lured back again and again with promises to fade acne scars, smooth or clear skin, etc., etc., ETC.

The only exception is their alcohol-free toner, but I since I have sworn off all things Neutrogena, I refuse to even buy that, either.

A few years back I had an allergic reaction on Clearasil facewash. However what might not worked for me could work for someone else.

i will stay away from lush skin care as far as possible! because i have a very very bad experience for almost 2 months after 3 months of using lush face skin care line, i had bumbs on my face and i can't squeeze it out, i have to use a very good face scrub every second day to exfoliate and try to squeeze it out gently, the stuff comes out is like some white gunk, it was aweful, i never have this kinda problem before in my life!!!

i have stop using lush for 3 months now, i am so glad my face is clear.

PS. lush face skin care is packed with cocoa butter and shea butter along with natural and essential oil, it is a lots of oil!!! it's like a pot of pork fat! soon or later problem will happen on your face.
their toner is like water can't exfoliates.
their face cleanser like aobs is too oily, coal face soap is too harsh for face! too drying for most skin type.

it was a one hell of face skin care lesson i ever had!!! it was evil!!! http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Those Clearisil, Noxzema, Clean&Clear face washes. I especially hate that old school Noxzema one in the blue tub. That thick white icky stuff. It stayed on my face after I washed it off and I had a gross menthol smell on my skin.

But, I do like Neutrogena Fresh Foaming face wash. It lathers up really nice and gets rid of any foundation I have on.

Clinique toners and acne spot treatment

Very good topic. I am always willing to save someone else the horrible b.s. I went through trying to figure the skin thing out!

*Clinique 3-step system(the original)-did these so-called dermatologists even read the ingredients they put in this stuff? The soap is drying, the toner is pure alchohol, and the lotion is the oily solution to moisturizing the scaliness on your skin from the soap and the toner...Awful.

*Any acne-pad (Oxy, Clearasil, etc.) I just remember walking around for 3 days in jr. high with a red mark on my face from one of these chemically burning my skin.

*Neutrogena Clean face wash (the orange one in the pump bottle) and the Pore Treatment(with the white squeeze tube.)Neutrogena markets these products together as the answer to acne, but sadly did nothing for me at all!!

Oooh, and this is not a skincare product per se, but everyone do yourself a favor and do not go near the Jessica Simpson stuff that they sell in the drugstore. It's so gross!! My friends and I tried it on the display and almost gagged ourselves on the car ride home cuz we reeked of it.

The skincare products that I DO love are the new Phisoderm Moisturizer (PH2O), Dove Soap, and Neutrogena Healthy Skin Lotion.

Anything Clinique or department store! The prices dont keep up with the claims and most products sold there have added fragrance. Clinique is a little better about *that* aspect, but all the dept store brands contain ingredients that are irritating to skin and ineffective. They are just soaking you for things that dont work better than, and sometimes dont work as well as, lower priced brands.

My skin does not do well with Noxema for some reason. I really don't like it. I tend to stick with the products my dermatologist suggests. I have had good luck with those. I especially like the anti-aging (http://skin-care.00freehost.com/anti-aging/) products for my skin. They have really reduced the amount of visible wrinkles in my skin. I usually put nice cream on at night and viola! No more old age face!

For me, it's basically anything that is too drying. Also, products with retinol make my eyelids all scaly if it gets too close. Now don't get me wrong, I dont actually put it near my eyes... It just kind of travels there or something. However, most things don't really break me out. I think I must be fairly lucky. I have the kind of skin that is sensitive, but usually just turns red or dries out if it disagrees with the product.

For what its worth, I think any product could probably work for someone out there. It just depends on the individual. I don't personally believe there is a universal "stay away" from product. But I could be wrong...

I second this, but where can you buy shampoos and bodywashes that don't contain SLS?

I had a really bad experience with Cetaphil cream moisturizer. The face wash works ok, I don't use it everyday though. But the lotion was TERRIBLE for my skin. I had LOTS of red bumps for like 1 month after I stopped using it. Such a waste of money! http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
