Every morning in the shower I am losing hairs! Lots of hairs!

I'm not thinning or anything, and I have TONS of hair (although it is soft/fine textured). But I worry when lots of hairs start coming out in my hands when I am shampooing and conditioning.

My hair is long and baby soft. Any ideas?

have you tried combing/brushing your hair before you get in the shower? I find that if you brush your hair before getting in the shower you lose less hair when washing. Also, if you have long hair, it can look like you're losing a lot of hair, but basically it's just double the length or what a shorter hair would be.

If you still have lots of hair and no noticeable bald patches, I really wouldn't worry. Those who are really losing their hair find it everywhere and can actually pull out chunks of hair when they brush or just lose hair for no reason at all. The average person loses about 100 hairs a day. If you have long hair, that can look like a lot, but it's all normal.

I lose a lot of hairs too, everyday. Not just in the shower, it seems to be everywhere. My husband is still surprised that there's some left on my head. If you don't notice any bald patches, and if the hairs look liked they are shedded instead of broken off (is there a little white bulb at the end?), I won't be too concerned.

If the hair is breaking off as opposed to shedded, you might want to look for ways to strengthen your hair (gentler care, less damaging treatments).

Yeah the thing is, I don't even damage my hair at all! Monday through Friday it just air dries. No heat styling, no products. I only heat style when I go out.

I do brush it many times throughout the day though. Maybe I brush it too much?

What brand of shampoo and conditioner do you use?
Perhaps that is the culprit?

Are you under a lot of stress or have you recently had a baby? That's the only three things I can think of.

Honestly, I think it's normal, unless your hair is coming out in clumps. I have the same type of hair, except curly, and I also let it airdry every time I wash it and I too notice a certain amount of hair coming out when I wash it.

I think it may be that because it's long we notice it more? I think that one normally sheds about a 100 hairs a day.

I have to agree with Krissy. I have long hair that's very fine and I seem to lose more of it when I wash it than any other time but it hasnt gotten any thinner and I have no bald patches so I don't think it's anything to worry about.
