Every year, I can't go Christmas shopping without spending money on myself. This was my last big haul for a while - hubby made me promise to spend no more than $50 at a time (and cash only) on makeup as opposed to my $200 spree tonight with my credit card. I must say, I am one happy girl tonight! I absolutely love all of the products that I got! Hubby asked me for a few ideas for Christmas, so I wrote down that I want Melon Pigment and the 6 Warm Eyes Palette from MAC, and a bottle of Makeup Brush Cleanser from Clinique.
MAC Pigments - Subtle, Tan, Copperclast
*Since I'm so obsessed with Sunnydaze to the point where I've proclaimed it to be my favorite piggie, I just HAD to have Subtle. I tried them both on tonight side-by-side (ok, so I was already wearing Sunnydaze tonight lol), and Subtle IS slightly darker. The plum tone that it supposedly has is very faint, but it is a smokier taupe than Sunnydaze, especially when used wet. (I usually apply a layer of pigment wet and then top it off with a layer of dry pigment.) I could care less if the two even were identical because I love the silvery taupe hue so much. It looks hott with a lot of black mascara! It goes with anything too.
*Tan is a very pretty bronzey-gold pigment. I had L'Oreal HIP's knock-off version, but even though the two look similar in the jars the quality of L'Oreal's just doesn't compare to MAC's. I tossed L'Oreal's and have vowed not to buy any more drugstore makeup because I am never happy with it in the long run. I'm glad I got MAC's original version based on all of your raves.
*Copperclast is MAC's newest pigment from the Jewelescent Collection. Ladies, you have GOT to check this one out! If you love taupes and browns, you will love this taupe-brown combination. It is absolutely gorgeous and another great smokey-eye shade.
MAC Lipglasses - Oh Baby, Languish, Entice
*I'm so glad that I got Oh Baby based on all of your raves. I have never been able to wear nude shades in any other brand, but because of MAC's high-shine formulas and the fact that the color I see in the tube is the color I get on my lips, I am now able to pull off the look. With MAC Lipglasses, I never have to try on the shades at the counter first because I automatically know that I will love them because the colors remain true out of the tube.
*Languish is a beautiful plummy-bronze. It reminds me of Maybelline's Shinylicious gloss in Banana Pudding, but the quality is MUCH better - and no nasty taste!
*Entice is a creamy burnt peach. I love peach shades. They always brighten my complexion.
MAC Pro Lash Mascara in Coal Black
*I haven't tried this yet, but it sounds like the right formula I was originally looking for last time when the SA gave me Zoomlash instead. I'm going to give it a whirl tomorrow. Zoomlash was too much of a lengthening formula for me because I already have really long lashes.
Clinique Eyeshadow Brush
*I love Clinique's brushes (I also have their blush brush). I am going to use this brush to apply my pigments.
Clinique Soft-Pressed Powder Blushers - Plum Gorgeous, Mocha Pink
*I finally got Plum Gorgeous! I had been lemming a subtle plum blush forever. This one is really pretty and natural-looking. This line of blushes is my favorite.
*I replaced my Mocha Pink, which was totally broken and nearly used-up. I had it for over three years, so it was about time I got a fresh one!
Prescriptives Illuminating Potion Foundation Primer - Translucent
*I've never used primer before, and I wanted something to brighten my dull winter complexion before I put on my foundation and concealer (I use all Prescriptives products). I really wanted the Red Neutralizer version, but the SA gave me the wrong one. I'll try it anyway as I don't know how well the red neutralizer would live up to its claims anyway (red neutralizing formulas never seem to work for me). It was $30, so if I don't like it I will definitely return it.
Smith's Rose Mint Lip Balm Tin
*This is limited-edition, and only at Sephora. I had seen it on the website and was checking out my Clinique purchases at Sephora and happened to notice it by the register. I almost forgot about it, and it was something that I really wanted. I love Smith's Rosebud Salve. It is my favorite lipbalm for day and night, and this new version is really nice. It's the same Rosebud Salve formula, but with a minty zing!
Whew, did I have fun hauling tonight! :D
A few days ago I also purchased MAC's Lipgelee Set. I had never tried the Lipgelee formula. All of the shades are gorgeous, however after about two minutes they basically all turn clear on my lips. I will use them up, as they are great for this time of year when my lips are drier and I just want to throw on some Rosebud Salve and gloss on top. I would not repurchase any of these in the full-size tubes though. Maybe just one for days when my lips are drier. They are super-slick and very moisturizing, but Lipglass is still my favorite gloss formula because it's so long-lasting.
