Has anyone ever tried applying a thin layer of Milk of Magnesia under your makeup to absorb oil (for excessively oily skin only)? My dermatologist recommended this to me and then I went online and read about it. I bought a bottle of unflavored milk of magnesia at Target tonight and, as gross as it sounds, I'm going to try this tomorrow by applying a thin layer to my skin with a cotton pad before I apply my makeup. I have a busy day tomorrow so it will be a great day to try this method out. Here is the article that I read:

I've been really intrigued by all of the new Soap & Glory products at Target recently and decided to splurge. Everything smells so good. This is what I got:

The Daily Smooth Body Butter - This comes in a tube. I actually grabbed the last one and then a guy who works at the store came over and put another one on the shelf, so then I grabbed that one too! It's scented with their new Mist You Madly fragrance.

Mist You Madly Body Spray - The body spray bottles are so cute and they both smell really good. This one is a clean, flirty floral scent.

Glam-A-Lot Body Spray - This one is warmer and richer than Mist You Madly. It actually reminds me of a sweeter, more wearable version of B&BW Brown Sugar & Fig.

Clean, Girls Body Wash - This is a creamy body wash in a pump bottle, also with the Mist You Madly scent.

Great Shakes Hand Cream - I love this hand cream. I had it before and I missed it. It smells so good, makes my hands soft and is not greasy.

Heel Genius Soak-In Foot Mask - This is basically an overnight foot cream.

Sudsy Puff Shower Sponge - Soap & Glory's own pretty pink shower pouf!

I'm getting X-mas gifts out of the way. I also picked up some stuff for myself:p

-Gucci Flora perfume for my mom. I got her Marc Jacobs last year in a roll-on and she loves the gardenia scents. I think Flora smells better so she's gonna get that.

-Ulta 3 in 1 Key Lime Pie body wash/shampoo/bubble bath. My dad already had this but it's empty so he's getting another one. He tends to like lotions and body washes more than my mom.:)

-Bliss Lid+Lash wash. It's an eye makeup remover and I needed a new one. It was sitting up int he bins at the register so I grabbed it. Those things always get me.:D

-Jaqua Pink Buttercream Frosting body mist. This stuff smells amazing, just like frosting. I kept going in and spritzing the non-tester bottle on me for like 3 days straight. I felt so bad for using it so I bought it today. :cool:

Has anyone tried out the new Crystal Light (the drink mixes) called Skin Essentials? It keeps your skin healthy b/c it has a lot of extra nutrients. Has anyone checked it out? If so what do you think of it?

My skin used to be very oily in my 20s and 30s but I am not sure if using liquid was part of it though Clinique Superfit and Revlon Colorstay did control the oil fairly well. Now that I am older, my skin is now very dry. I also keep forgetting to exfoliate as I only wash my face at bedtime and its an extra step that makes my face drier it seems.

I read that sometimes my flaky skin was related to when I had yeast infections as it can be elsewhere on the body including face! Has anyone else noticed that?

And exfoliating does help the moisturizer penetrate deep but it's a matter of finding one that is not drying and to remember to do it. I use AHA sometimes but its painful and also drying at first.

But I have figured to do this more often and its the most helpful for reducing my dry skin problem. I have a bucket of water close by the heating source and I don't wake up with a sore nose now. My place is so dry!

I also have taken to misting my face with a mixture of water, aloe and a teaspoon of glycerin (you can add a drop of EO like rose or neroli or whatever that is best for dry skin) on top of my moisturizer and I don't have to use lots of moisturizer at bedtime to deal with a super dry face in the morning. Glycerin is good for attracting and retaining water to the skin. I tried this in the daytime over my mm but I ended up feeling greasy though my skin didn't look that way. It's best at night where I wouldn't even feel it and I keep it in the fridge as it has no preservatives.

Also a thin layer of Olay Regenerist under a moisturizer works well too as it probably has some glycerin in it.

I hope this helps someone with dry skin. I have been experimenting with different things the past month.

I got an email saying that they hare having 20% off until Dec.31/09 and that they have renamed and regrouped they colours. Some of the colours have their original names and they added several new one to total 55 colours. Their samples ship for free to all destinations. Canada Post will be increasing their rates next year so now is a good time to stock up.:D

I picked Antique for my colour but I think that Warm Medium Light is a better match. I think I will get the Porcelain to add to my Antique to lighten it a bit.

I am not sure what to suggest for those that have problems with the mineral going cakey or not lasting other than to email the owners. I have a chamomile hydrosol spray that I was using to set my mm but it turns out that it was too drying for my skin if this helps.
