Worst of all worlds: oily, acne, and old!
bagelwright, where are you? I need a foundation rec. Other than Revlon Colorstay Spa or whatever it is, can you recommend what to look for in a foundation that won't make me look even OLDER while I deal with my acne problems? I swear I have the worst of all the skin woes: greasy, potholes for pores, acne riddled (but hopefully that's about to be under control), flakey from using benzoyl peroxide on the volcanoes, and old as the hills!!!!
I think part of my problem is I'm trying to use up old foundations and they just are not good formulas, so they exacerbate all my issues even more. I'm trying to finish up a Rimmel Hydrasense but I probably need to scrap it and use something else. Move on to the next item in the pile and see if it's any better until I use up or toss them all and buy something better suited (more money out the window ).

Darlene, I'm right here! I feel your pain. I will soon be ejoying my 51st birthday, probably starting the day with a good long squeeze over my nose. It just won't quit with the oil, the pothole pores, and the clogging.
I'll tell you what has worked fairly well for me, and I hope it helps you.
Skin: Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer SPF 30-45. Nothing with higher SPF. The heavily concentrated active ingredients in higher SPFs will sensitize your skin and clog. Sundamage breaks down collegen, which will in turn cause pores to "drop open". Make sure you're using a 2% BHA (Neutrogena's 3-in-1 Hydrating Treatment and Paula's Choice 2% BHA come to mind). These are your long-term battle plans.
Foundation-wise I've fallen in love with Covergirl Aqua Smooth cream-to-powder foundation, Revlon's New Complexion c\Cream-to-Powder, and Almay's Line-Smoothing Cream-to-Powder. Liquids don't give me the coverage, the speed of application, and the flexibility that compact cream makeup does. For a change I like to use Maybelline's new Super-Stay makeup, but it's not my "go to" base.
I hope this helps!

I would try Mac's Face and Body Foundation. It's great for when you are experiencing dry skin-which it seems you are.
You will need a powder with this one though because it's a very glowy foundation.
When I'm having a hard dry skin day-especially during the winter months here in New England-I turn to this foundation.
My regular foundation has been Mufe HD and Korres Vitamin and Ginger foundation. You might want to try this one as well. They sell Korres on sephora.com
Good luck!
Current Favorites:
Mac Studio Finish Concealor NC15, Makeup Forever HD Foundation #117, Korres Ginger & Vitamin Foundation LF1, Mac Margin Blush, Mac Lipstick in Plink! and Politely Pink, Mac Lipglasses, Mac & Stila Eyeshadows, Milani Eyeliners, Oil of Olay Moisturizer, Neutrogena Liquid Cleanser & Pond's Clean Sweep Cloths.
My Coloring: Long dark brown wavy hair, dark brown eyes, pale yellow skin, sensitive/combination/acne prone skin.

Thank you, girls. I appreciate and will check out all those recs.
I feel better today. I remembered and dug out my "old faithful", never fail foundation Estee Lauder Maximum Coverage. I actually combined it with a little of the cheap stuff and it is still very full coverage. And none of the streakiness and flakiness I was getting with the cheap stuff alone that made my skin look crappier than it is. I may use up the cheap stuff this way to finish it, and also to stretch out this $$$30 tube of Estee Lauder.

I've always like Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. It's my #1 favorite. Wears like paint of the side of a barn! LOL
I'm currently using Bare Escentuals mineral foundation, and I do really like it, but it's still a challenge to control the oily monster in the summr heat (100+ here).
